Stay away from this place! I agree with Dave M and Lloyd L.
Read reviews before you go here (on other sites as well). The course is mediocre, at best. Much more than that though, the ownership/management/staff is horrendous. I should have read the reviews before wasting my time and money at this place. I'd rather light my money on fire than contribute to the bottom line at this (insert favorite expletive here). Let me know when the ownership/management has been replaced. I came here to write the same thing that many others have mentioned..."I wouldn't go here if it was free".
This is one of those places that begs for the option of zero stars. I really never thought I would give out a one star review, but this placed definitely earned it! Absolutely deplorable.
I went here as part of the pre-wedding festivities for my daughter. I will skip the parts about the complete lack of professionalism and verbal attacks by managers of the establishment. That alone was enough to earn a one star and to never return here again. Instead, I'll focus on what started the unbelievable, worst customer service I have ever experienced.
I was not going to be golfing due to physical reasons and so I asked for a cart. I was not allowed to PAY for a cart to travel along with the group. I was absolutely not allowed to go out with the group unless I was golfing, even if I paid! After reading another users review about how rundown and dangerous the carts are, maybe it was for the best. Regardless, I was disappointed to not be able to participate in what was supposed to be a nice afternoon before my daughter's wedding.
If this place was free, it would be overpriced. Nobody that I know, will ever be giving this establishment any kind of business.
ATTN: SAFETY HAZARD: I lost control of the cart going from 1st tee to the fairway. My partner was thrown from the cart. The cart almost rolled over. We could have both died. He was injured but, thank God, not seriously. We requested another cart which was better but not great.
. The problem we concluded was poor maintenance of the carts/breaks, perhaps coupled with a too much gravel. (The course had just been sanded and aerated. Perhaps they put down an inappropriate amount/type of gravel. )The breaks would not modulate. They seized with the slightest pressure. The weight and momentum of the cart pulled us downhill . At first we were sliding out of control on the gravel. The cart turned sideways and did a 150 degree turn onto the grass and tipped enough that my partner was thrown out on the right side. Fortunately it did not roll over. Ive played Wildwood a dozen or more times over a 10year period. I loved the course because of its playability and beauty but I won't go back after that. NOTE TO MGT. Pls fix this problem before any players get hurt or killed. Bob
A little hilly for walking, but do-able. Interesting layout with hills, meandering, curving fairways. Good use of water, trees, landscape. Greens were in great shape and both times we've played here it has been raining. Fairly busy place but paced well.
He would play this course again.
Best golfing value in Portland.! The course is very well maintained, especially for a public course. Lots of terrain variations, which gives the course a unique feel. Not particularly challenging, good for most golfers. Really beautiful scenery with great landscaping, forest butting up to the golf course and views of Mt. St. Helens, Willamette and Portland. I find the staff to be friendly and helpful. Really a good overall value and they don't even gouge you on beer! Pace of play is usually great, but obviously can be slow on a weekend in the summer mid day, just like every other course in town. If you have a complaint about a marshal hassling you, you were probably being a jackass or you were playing behind the pace.
