We were back at this wonderful hotel for a beautiful wedding. As always, our experience exceeded our expectations. Without asking, we were upgraded to a water view and greeted with a smile! There is no question, this is a 5 star hotel!
Attended a private function last month and I was blown away. They set up a large tent on their front lawn, strung it up with beautiful lights and did a Caribbean theme (complete with a steel drum band). As the sun set, we lounged out on wicker furniture and sipped wine. It was a beautiful venue and would definitely use it for a personal event any time.
Absolutely gorgeous setting for my boyfriend's sister's wedding last weekend. The food was incredible, the service was great. Only complaints were that the green plastic mat the tent/patio was built on is very painful on bare feet (which many people had by the end of the sweltering day). We were allowed to leave our car there overnight although we were staying in Portsmouth, which I thought was very kind. Wonderful setting for a wedding reception or other affair. The golf course looks terrific as well.
I was just there this past weekend for an engagement party. What a fantastic place. We were in this private room that was just beautiful for such an event. It had the decor of the older colonial days. But the highlight of the evening must have been the dinner. Started off with a very creamy, rich clam chowder. It was a rather large bowl and delicious. That was followed by a rather large roasted pear salad. It was very good. Our dinner's main course was lobster ravioli with scallops & shrimp, with braised leeks and chive cream. I must say this was so good I was tempted to eat half of another plate (whatever my fiancee couldn't finish). Everything was presented very nicely with the ravioli the talk of the table.
The ravioli was striped with two colors, standard yellow pasta and surprisingly black. It was quite an interesting looking dish. For dessert we were treated to a fallen chocolate souffle. This was mediocre by my standards as I tend to like fluffier chocolate souffles. All in all a great dinner, a great dining experience, and a gorgeous location for an event. I've been told they're pretty much booked for the most part so I stronly suggest if you're planning on having an event there to book it far in advance.
