Went to a meeting here, the setting is very nice, posh, stuffy, was looking for the old farts with stogies - in fact the bathrooms had ashtrays! holy crap! we had a lunch catered by the Country Club - i had a salad (house?), with whatever dressing was placed on it prior to my arrival at the table. then i had salmon with 3 roasted asparagus spears and 2 grape tomatoes, over a bed of orzo? or something that should have been creamy and smooth but was more like glue. the salmon was fresh-unfrozen and cooked and 2-3 ounces in portion. rule 1, never order salmon in alabama. the presentations from plate to plate on the table suggested the waiters/chefs liked some people and not others based on how much was on each plate. As is usual, there was no seasoning whatsoever, except salt, the salmon appeared to have something on it, there was no spice that i could detect. rule 2, don't leave home without packing Tabasco sauce. for dessert i had panna cotta, the requisite caramelized sugar atop it was only partially caramelized, the custard was smooth, and had fairly good flavor.
overall the experience was blah, and suited for the people with egos who have to belong to the "club", the food i do not think reached the price i suspect they charged the meeting organizers.
