Got completely hooked up to play this course. As others note, the views are SPECTACULAR.
The back 9 is as stunning a side of golf as I've ever seen -- in some ways it's more beautiful than Pebble Beach. Yes, I know that sounds crazy, but the fact that you are so high up with nothing to block your view, and you get almost 360-degree views of the entire bay area. It would be an awesome place to hike to and have lunch, let alone sling golf balls around.
It hosts a Nationwide Tour event and you can tell by the way the green complexes are designed. Undulation. Serious undulation. Have fun when above the hole.
If you have a slice, do not play here.
If you have a hook, do not play here.
If you hit straight, do not play here.
This course is hard. get it?
It's also hard to find. I never even knew this course existed until this past spring. And since then I have been back on a few occasions and each time finding it is almost as challenging as playing it.
I love this course, but I love it for reasons that most golfers would hate. It's challenging. It's long, The greens are lightning fast. Deeeeeeeep bunkers! But the course is fair and rewards good shots. And the bar in the clubhouse is fully stocked. You will need it, trust me.
The views? Amazing! From virtually every hole on the course you are treated to spectacular views of the entire Bay Area. From Marin all the way down to the Santa Clara Valley. However, the views of your slice and watching your ball end up on the bottom of the canyon not so much.
When I grow up, I want a golf club membership!
This place is so serene and relaxing. You get the most gorgeous views of the entire bay area from this place. I'm no golfer but this place has an amazing restaurant called the Dormy House. i came here twice this week for lunch and I recommend sitting outside for the full experience. It is absolutely breath taking and the most peaceful and relaxing lunch i've had for a long time. It is so quite you can hear a pin drop. Service is relaxed so you don't feel rushed and the views are phenomenal. You get the feeling like you're in some resort
I plan on coming back again but this time in the evening so i can see the sunset.
Service is 5/5!
Food is really good as well. My favorite is the southwest chicken sandwich, curried lettuce wraps and the crab potato jacket.
Definitely check this place out for lunch on a chill Saturday or Sunday afternoon.
I have been a member of Stonebrae since its opening. My family lives here and enjoys this beautiful course and facility daily. I am a beginner golfer, but I must say it is a challenging course... but while searching for ball after ball... there is lots of beautiful views through the first 9 holes, and the back 9 have some great landscape!
The staff is wonderful! And even the gym classes are lovely...
Overall, it is an outstanding place to come for a workout, have a meal, or play a round of golf!
Not to mention the excellent golf tournaments held there...there is even one this weekend! (April 15 - 18th) tickets are available online or you can buy at the gate!
I am a member here and my familiy and I LOVE it! The staff is excellent and the pro- Greg- is outstanding as are all of the golf staff. The golf is much like golf in Scotland- challenging and stunning views/course conditions. Family friendly and social atmosphere.
