The Patriot Golf Club is very special. This is not just another private club golf course. The Patriot Club immerses the golfers in a its world of golfing excellence along with a heavy dose of patriotism. This place is "Stars & Stripes" all the way. The Robert Trent Jones design begins and ends on a lofty bluff that overlooks downtown Tulsa off in the distance. The opening tee shot falls more than 100 feet down to the fairway and continues to meander through streams and rocky outcropping until it rises up from the basin floor on hole no. 6 (which happens to have to playing options; play 6B if it's open - a green carved from the rocky outcroppings). The journey off the bluff is revisited on hole no. 14 with another elevated tee shot down to the basin. When your cart brings you to the top of the bluff again on hole no. 17 you're greeted by one of country's tallest flagpoles and huge American flag. The purpose of the Patriot Club is noted on a huge plaque and bronze American Eagle statue. The final hole, a par-4 which plays over a deep gorge is spectacular. The clubhouse is smallish but the food is delicious. And I might add that the practice green sits atop the bluff just behind hole no. 1 teeing ground. Breathtaking stuff! It's a private club so you'll have to work hard to find a way to play. Do it! The Patriot Golf Club is a bucket list certainty for golfers.
