This place offered AMAZING Southern hospitality.
The only tricky part was the parking. There were two entrances from Three Chopt. Road -- we turned into the second (St. Andrews Ln). We circled around the building a bit lost, but luckily a few of the employees were able to direct us to the lot -- where we stumbled upon a traffic (security?) officer that was directing
My boyfriend and I lumbered up the cobblestoned hill (my heels were not happy) to the expansive patio area overlooking the lawn. We entered from one of the side doors into the Main Ballroom. In the center of the ballroom was a classy gent playing a black, grand piano. As I gazed around the room, my breath was taken away by the gorgeous lighting -- above the two sparkling chandeliers was a dazzled web of golden lights. There were 3 communal tables along each side of the room with ample space in the center that allowed for celebratory Italian dancing, funk dancing to Bee Gees, and a huge, wild conga line.
The club staff was warm and overly friendly with questions ranging from where the bathroom was to where we could put our gifts. The bathrooms didn't have paper towels -- they had wash cloths! A bit disturbing at first (for a tipsy person), but economical and logical. Luckily, there was a bin for all dirty linens.
My favorite part about this place was the FIRE PITS on the patio! So awesome -- there was no better feeling to be sitting underneath the twilight-draped sky, sipping chardonnay, and basking in the glow of the roaring fire. This is up there in my "best moments" collection.
Thanks for making our friends' wedding reception such a hit!
