I recently attended a wedding at the Tavistock Country Club, and I must say, it was quite wonderful.
The servers kept things running so smoothly and had great organizational skills, and the lead (I think) attendant (Bernadette) was amazing.
This was a small wedding (25-ish people), and some of us are -quite- picky when it comes to food... Yet we all raved about the main course. The filet that I had ranks up there with one of the best that I have had (beating out the steaks I have gotten from Smith & Wollensky and Peter Lugers).
Overall a great experience. But I would suggest that they work on their valet service- the attendant seemed far more interested in watching the game on his laptop than actually taking care of the vehicles (after waiting five minutes for the valet, I parked myself and saw him inside sitting down in front of his laptop).
My wife's relationship with a local law firm results in an invitation to a huge holiday party every year at this fabulous facility. I tag along as the token husband. Amazing food and an open bar all night. It's a tough job but somebody has to do it! We have attended several times.
This is a review of the banquet facilities. If you're looking for a golf course review you'll need to go elsewhere.
The physical facility is beautiful both outside and in. A large parking lot adjoins it. The banquet rooms are beautifully appointed. As you might expect the holiday decorations are camera worthy.
I find the quality of the staff a real pleasure. After visiting for years we've experienced consistently outstanding treatment. It seems that every person we meet is competent and friendly. Kudos to the management for both their hiring and training programs.
If you have eve attended this type of soiree you know the food is a function of both the facility and the client. This law firm could have ordered hamburgers and hot dogs or steak and shrimp. In this case it was top-of-the-line dining.
The food was organized into stations around the sides of the main ballroom. I could go on for pages but here are some highlights.
The carnivore station included turkey, ham, beef tenderloin, beef tenderloin stuffed with spinach, corned beef and lamb chops. Wow!
The potato bar had whipped potatoes with a selection of every topping imaginable. Your choice was served in a martini glass. Very cool!
There was a caesar salad station with each salad made to order.
How about an amazing desert bar complete with bananas foster and cherries jubilee?
Let's not forget the pasta bar and the cappuccino bar. There was more but you get the idea.
Everything was hot, fresh, and delicious. If I had to throw a big party, Tavistock would be on my short list!
i had my wedding here and it was amazing!
this is not golf or club related, just from the perspective of this site as a reception hall.
we had the most beautiful wedding, and at a reasonable price. check out their sunday specials - we were able to get a beautiful wedding package at about half price (and the packages are good even on holiday weekends, ours was on columbus day). their service was great, the food was unbelieveable, the grounds are gorgeous and impeccably maintained, their wedding cake (made in-house) was phenomenal, their settings and linens were great, everything was AWESOME!
the bridal attendant was on-point, the bartender was great, and they services they recommended to us (dj, florist) worked out wonderfully. our night was beautiful, flawless, and everyone raved about how great every aspect of our wedding was.
i would make a 100% recommendation that anyone getting married in the area should check this place out, for real!
