This used to be a premium course in the area, and it still has that potential.  Still, I found the course to be in a fairly rough shape, all things considered.  First,  was a bit surprised at how loosely "corralled" carts were on the course.  Obviously enjoy relatively no restrictions, but there was no signage to get carts back to paths within ~100 yards of the green.  As such, there were tons of tire tracks all over the place where folks "blazed their own trail," even up to and around the greens.  Also didn't think the greens were in particularly good shape.  Didn't see a ranger all day, so it might help to have someone keeping a loose eye on play.  Lastly, as someone commented, there isn't a single water cooler on the whole course, which is a bit cheap.

Regardless, it is a nice course.  Some very nice holes, great views of the lake, and a well appointed clubhouse.  Just think they need to focus on those "polish" items that distinguish a course as a premium one in the area.

Course is in great shape.  But I have two nit picks.  #1 is when I pay $69.00 I don't want to have to  hit off of ratty mats on the driving range.  Over the years I have played here  many times and the grass tees are NEVER open.

Secondly there is not a lot of water to drink on the course.  Curious when its July and 90º.

For these two reasons I can't give it 5 stars.

For those of you who have not played Stonewall, you really need to. Situated just across the way from the 18th green at the famous RT J course in Gainesville, Virginia sits this magical, challenging course. I can't believe I'm the first one was reviewing it! Although it is surrounded by many homes in the Lake Manassas subdivision, you will soon forget about these homes and concentrate on the beauty of the course. A number of the holes back to picturesque Lake Manassas. Having played RT J a number of times, I can tell you, the views are every bit as nice at Stonewall.

Without a doubt, the staff here is THE most friendly I have encountered at any golf course I have played!! I belong to a private club nearby but still enjoy playing this challenging course and signed up for their patriot club membership. This entitles me to free golf during the winter months-cart fee required and discounted rates for me and one guest throughout the year.

The final bonus at Stonewall is the Brass Cannon restaurant. With views overlooking the large pond and hole number 18, it's nicer than my own club and I'm often found eating here in a peaceful and serene atmosphere while nearby diners wait an hour or more to get a table at the hectic Bonefish Grill just up the road! Hush now---keep that a secret!!

They would play this course again.

I recently asked a friend who loves golf what the nicest courses are in the Northern Virginia area were, and the first one that came to his mind was Stonewall Golf Club.  Based on his endorsement, I ended up giving it a try. From my experience with them, they were awesome, especially the head golf professional, Jonathan Schoenfeld. I had an issue that was no fault of theirs, and they were extra accommodating, even though they could have told me "tough luck." I can't recommend them highly enough - Stonewall is very customer-centric!
