Got a golf lesson from Vinny for 1 hour and it definitely made a difference for me in my golf game. I would highly recommend it. It costed me $60 for one hour.
looove playing here . greens are tough but the holes are long and enjoyable with great views
I just started golfing about a month ago and San Clemente Municipal is a great place to golf for all different levels! The course is pretty cheap if you do the twilight special. I really like the new chipping area they added. I have taken group classes with Rocky there and he is an awesome instructor!!!
I really enjoy playing this course with my father. We come here for the twilight and super twilight rates. Last night for example, my dad and I played a 1 hour and 45 minute 9-hole round for $21 per person including a golf cart. The course itself is currently in great shape. The greens are relatively firm and do not have many divots. Continuing my discussion of the course: (1) the front nine is relatively easy compared to the back nine - much flatter and straight, (2) the bunkers are too firm and difficult to get out from - really avoid these, (3) there isn't too much a difference between the white and blue tees FYI, and (4) the the play is often quite slow - you get a lot of hackers including myself here.
The clubhouse is very nice if I should say so myself. A great happy hour with unique beers on tap as well as spirits. The food is wonderful, try the sliders. Additionally, the staff is very friendly - they are always trying to hook you up and keep the play moving. Seriously, watch where you park. The parking area is situated by the ninth hole par 3. Let's just say that it's not unheard of for people to hit errant golf balls into the parking area (obviously coming from the hackers).
My recommendations: if you can hit a 300 yard straight drive, you are in perfect shape for this course. You DO NOT really need a driver, however. My point is that if you have a good drive, you generally have a 30 yard pitch and easy chance for birdie. Definitely bring some wedges, I usually bring a 60 and 54 cleveland degree. Other than that, expect to have some fun. But don't expect a face paced round if you decide to golf at 11am on Sunday.
I couldn't be more of an advocate of a golf course. No it isn't the most incredibly manicured course in history but for a municipal course it's in really good condition. I'm a San Clemente resident so I get an unbelievable rate. I pay $20 to $30 on the weekends including the $4 pull cart fee. The staff is great. I had an iron with a broken shaft the other day and they replaced it for free. That has never happened to me before. They had one sitting around and just took care of it for me.
