We recently held our wedding reception at Salem Golf Club and I just cannot say enough good things about them. I knew from my first conversation with the folks at Salem that they were going to be great to work with and I knew immediately upon arrival that it was the perfect place for our reception. Every thing about this venue and its staff is top-notch. The club house is warm and elegant. Cocktail hour on the outside terrace was perfect. The main banquet room is full of windows looking out on the golf course. The food was amazing. The service was fantastic. Todd and Edgar are always on top of every single detail. Again, I just can't say enough good things about Salem. Highly recommended! Thank you for everything!!! :-)
I think it's fair that you all know about the kind of service you will get if you're planning to have your wedding here.
My fiancé and I decided to select Salem Golf Club as our wedding venue mainly because it wasn't pretentious and our first point of contact seemed very nice and welcoming. So we asked for a contract to be sent.
A small part of my job involves meeting/event planning, so I am now familiar with contracts and what kind of clauses/details should be added. Let me tell you, the contract was not only vague, but clearly looked like it was pieced together in under a minute. You might not think this is a big deal, but people who do that typically do so because they're 1- LAZY or 2-Slimy. The more vague it is, the less protected you are (legally).
So we added a few comments and suggested revisions (via "tracker" option on Word). I'm sorry, but I don't think I'm asking for much by asking for their cancellation policy or if they anticipate any construction to take place on their premises. I also think standard things like Tables, Linens and Chairs should be on the contract (We would pay extra if needed). We also asked for other details such as the number of servers that would be available, and if we could pay extra for more servers if needed.
We got NO responses whatsoever to any of our questions. Luckily, we did not sign a contract with them.
Unless you're a member at this Club, I wouldn't waste time trying to contract with this venue. They clearly don't care and have better things to do...like being a waste of space.
