The Vinyard and the Victoria lakes are always in great shape. The greens are always quick and smooth. You can tell the crew there takes pride in their work on the course. I just played the Victoria lakes course today and it was great. Course conditions were near perfect and they had the greens rolling very nice. They only reason I don't give 5 stars is because some of the Marshall's there are absolute idiots. I have played both of these courses probably fifty times and for some reason these guys always wanna get high and mighty and tell people to pick up the pace when it's not necessary and not at all in a polite way. I was literally in the middle of the fairway waiting for the green to clear and had Marshall come up to me and tell our group to pick up the pace. Some of them are just grumpy old men that like to hear themselves talk and think they know the game of golf but have no clue. But both course are always very nice just stay clear of those Marshall's.
The lakes course is one of my favorites, but they need to control their Marshalls! One in particular we were warned to pickup the pace on the 2nd hole we were a twosome playing with a single. He came back on the 5th to warn us again. Not just warn but thearten the man is a fool, we were 2 shots ahead of the group behind us and finished 2 holes ahead of that group. We did not see him again after the 5th. Told the other Marshalls they laughed and said he was the marshal from hell. Be warned of a Marshall riding with his poodle. I will rethink my golf choices in ventura county.
I love both courses here, the vineyard is a little easier because your ball is easier to keep in play. Victoria Lakes is the newer course with great challenges throughout. I call Victoria Lakes Torrey Pines north. You can't go wrong on either course.
Very unprofessional staff that is incompetent, rude, and not helpful. Scheduling is horrible too. Website schedules golf tea times under foot golf tea times. Staff is confused and rude. One representative was spitting in a cup (chewing tobacco) while giving me run around answers. The other employee looked at me than away quickly so she didn't have to help me. But I pushed forward and still Foot golfed. Second time around made a tea time. I get a call 10 hours prior telling me golfing and they cant let me golf because of course maintenance. They said they would give me a coupon or whatever for another time for golf. I asked them why golf? I wanted foot golf and thats what the tab online said I scheduled. They said I scheduled golf (wrong). After arguing with the staff I realized the employee was not that bright and stopped. I requested the address and he gave me number and street. I asked for city and zip and he said 9303 whatever just type it in and it will come up dude. Wow. I have been at burger king and dealt with smarter and better more professional staff. If you have options for golf or Foot golf make this the last one. As a military member I will make it a point to pass to the bases about this place and why future business with them is not a wise idea. Bad staff which I assume reflects bad management as one is a reflection of the other is nothing that should be rewarded. Business like this should be targeted and deprived of business until they improve.
One of my favorites courses in the area.
River Ridge has two separate 18-hole courses, I prefer the newer Victoria Lakes but both are fun to play.
Weather is always nice and cool, pro shop staff are friendly and the prices are great, as they have special rates for players in their 20's, which is an awesome way to grow the game.
