4.5 stars The staff here is highly attentive to the needs of their members, as well as their guests. The events they have for the holidays are very nice and family friendly with a large assortment of delicious food and desserts. The pool, golf course, and tennis courts are well kept, but the fitness center and spa are in need of an expansion. This isn't a flashy, state-of-the art country club, but there is definitely an understated elegance to this place.
Went here last night for a black tie fundraiser. I've been here a few times before & service & food are consistent. In fact for 3 years in a row they have served the exact same salad! Service is good, fairly attentive & ratio of staff to guests is good. They did a lovely antipasto spread (cheeses, meats, crackers, olives/hot peppers/grapes as garnish plus lots of passings (mini crab cakes, chicken & beef skewers, bruschetta etc. dinner is standard for a sit-down fundraiser - salad, pasta, choice of steak/chicken/salmon for entree. Dessert was disappointing - some sort of ice cream & sherbet concoction. I guess they were trying for a profiterole but the vanilla ice cream w strawberry sherbet came up short. Standard chocolate would have been better. Also it took forever to get coffee & then when people at my table got up to dance they cleared their UNEATEN desserts.
Overall 3 stars is fair - decor could use a serious update throughout.
I recently attended a Christening party here and was really impressed. The grounds are gorgeous and the staff were beyond attentive and professional. The room we were in had a piano and furniture on one side and the tables on the other side. The floor to ceiling windows really made for a breathtaking view of Staten Island. The food was delicious and nicely presented. Our waitress was Melanie who we were very pleased with. I hope I get invited to another event here!
