Richmond Country Club

  10 Reviews

After a very long break from golf I am back playing and I have the very good fortune to have joined Richmond Country Club.  The course was built back in 1924 and as reported hosted some PGA events with the greats of the time.  It is a golfer's course with all sorts of tricks up it's sleeve.  We have played several rounds already and all were below 4 hours walking.  The practice facilities are the best in the Bay Area with an excellent driving range and chipping greens.  This is a golfer's course. If you want to get better at golf there is no better place than Richmond Country Club.  Lastly, the staff has been fantastic, every last person we've encountered.

The time we spent yesterday playing golf at the Richmond Country Club was time well spent.  The course is in great shape with excellent, challenging greens.  The fairways roll true and the trees kept us honest.  The views are spectacular. The club personnel are genuinely welcoming. Rose greeted us and made our visit so enjoyable. We wish we lived closer to fully enjoy all that this course offers.  Richmond Country Club is truly a hidden jewel.

Great golf and very good food.

The golf course is outstanding.  It's old-fashioned, with few tricks, mature trees and small greens.  It doesn't beat you up, but by the end of the round you're wondering where all the strokes came from.  It's beautiful and walkable.

Eating breakfast or lunch off the menu is very good, albeit it's club food.  That is, it's very predictable, with large carbohydrate-loaded breakfasts, club sandwiches, burgers and french fries.  A must is the home-made potato chips.

The chef is much more talented than the menu would indicate.  For banquets and events he cooks up marvelous gourmet meals.

I have been playing golf at Richmond country club since I can remember and have enjoyed every one of my hundreds of rounds of golf. The course is a fantastic classic layout that challenges all players with hard to read greens and tons of wind. The course is not too long and you wont lose a ball, but your game must be tuned or you will be hotting out of trees as i often am. For the past few years, the course has been in excellent condition year round due to new greens, bunker renovations, and a drainage project that makes the course always playable.  The practice range and chipping area are extensive.
The staff is always friendly and the pool is an added bonus. I always enjoyed playing in the junior tournaments as well, but I am not sure they are still around. Food is good too.
