I volunteered at the AIA Northern Nevada Danny Askew Golf Tournament at Montreux this year. I had a great conversation with the person that took me in a golf cart out to the hole that I volunteered for. Even though I didn't get to see the entire golf course, I think it is very prestigious.
After the tournament ended, my cell phone died and I had to somehow get a hold of a friend of mine to come pick me up. So I went inside the clubhouse where the pool and fitness center are at. The person at the desk was named Matthew, and he was a lifesaver. He helped me get through to the person I was trying to get a hold of by letting me go on a website to look up my contacts that were backed up, and he let me use the phone to call this person that needed to pick me up. Matthew went above and beyond for me.
For me, golf is an activity I do because my dear husband loves it, but Montreux goes above and beyond to make sure the experience is grand. Our friends were able to get us on as guests to this marvelous course, after we'd seen the PGA tour here last year. The grounds are beautiful. We valet parked the Lexus, because well, we could, and everyone was friendly and accommodating to us. We ended up only golfing 11 holes, a very rare thunderstorm passed through. But the club gave us credit back for 9 holes, and were pleasant about it. The course itself is beautiful, and the drink cart came around at the proper rate.
Hopefully we can return, because this is one golf experience that was memorable for me.
One of the best courses I've ever played in my life. There's a reason why the PGA tour plays here every year. Everything about this club from the practice facilities to the club house the course and the restaurant is first class. Start with pro V1's to warm up with on the range. The course is immaculate with not a blade of grass out of place. Elevation changes through many of the holes, dog legs, water hazards, make every hole on the course unique. Add in the views and the fact that you're playing at elevation which gives you an extra 10% (at least) on your drives making you feel like even more of a man and you get a place that all golfers should try if they ever get the privilege being that it's a private course.
This is the cleanest most luxurious facility I have ever had the pleasure to enjoy. It provides a very relaxing environment. The fitness center is usually pretty empty, so there is no wait to use the machines. It is also the only fitness center I have been to that had no concerning smell to it. The golf course is green as green gets and well engineered. This is the place to go for a nice, relaxing, treat yourself kind of day.
Loved the Rombauer dinner!
