The course is beautiful but the management does not know how to marshal the course. Over 5 hours is ok with them as long as they "keep close to a 4.5 hour pace. Well I was in a group waiting 5 or more minutes on almost every hole and the marshal would do nothing cause they were "on pace" and pro shop mgr agreed. It took us over 5 hours to complete the round. Our club of 25 to 30 players refuse to play there anymore, and in fact just last month we had an outing scheduled there and it was canceled cause nobody would play, not to mention they have raised there fee to a ridiculous $85. Here is a statement from the USGA supported by HSGA::::::::
"WHOLE WE'RE YOUNG"
Translation: Hurry up! Don't hold up groups playing behind you! Stay behind the group in front of you not more than a hole down. You don't have to run but be ready when it's your turn. The USGA has launched an initiative to improve pace of play for everyone and supports the following:
Improve pace of play at golf facilities nationwide...Develop best practices for golf facilities to improve their pace of play...enhance/teach player awareness of causes and solutions of slow play...encourage ways to play faster...
Apparently " Kapolei Golf Course" does not agree.??? Hopefully those reading this will.
Since they changed chefs the food is not as good. Bring back the old menu
I used to like this course because it was always in really good shape. The irritating thing is the carts now have these strange regulators that control the cart. If you're even five feet from the cart path signs your cart will stop moving and you're forced to reverse out at a crawl until you're twenty to thirty feet back when the GPS regulator will let you move forward again. Truth be told, the GPS regulator on the cart significantly slows down the pace of play.
Great place for a nice game of golf. After relax in the club house with awesome food with great service. Enjoy Aloha
The course itself is excellent. Join as a PacificLinks member and you get unlimited range balls for free and discounted green fee. My tee time at 1 PM for 18-hole play was $30. Any true golfer would say $30 for the green fee is hands down the best price... unless your buddy pays for the fee, which is even sweeter.
