This course has a fun and challenging layout. With a few exceptions this is the same layout from 1905. The conditions are above average and greens and fairways are great. The more I play here, the more I enjoy the layout. It has some short par 5's that are super fun and can be played different ways. There are some longer par 4's that challenge you in a different way and put a premium on a good short game. 16-18 are an extremely fun way to end the round, I look forward to them every time, depending on the day you can either gain strokes or go the other way. Greens are established and reaceive the ball well, so you can stick it close with a good shot. Conditions are better than public and more mid range for private. There is a very nice grill to stop during and after the round, the food is great. If you are looking for a not so pretentious experience and great golf Joliet CC is a great choice.
He would play this course again.
If you're looking for one of the best "hidden gems" in the south suburbs - look no further! Opened in 1905, this course has a pretty rich history & it's hard to beat the value! Recently became a member after checking into most of the private country clubs in the South Suburbs. Hands down, best deal in town. Immaculately manicured course, beautiful clubhouse, friendly welcoming members, great food & social events, pool & "tiki" hut all for one price.
If you're looking to join a private country club, but are not wanting to pay a small fortune to do so - you need to check out JCC. Great practice area(s): multiple putting greens, short game area with bunker, driving range and practice hole(s).
Course is very well maintained, great layout. Lots of bunkers & quick, undulating greens. Rough is grown thick & penalizes the errant shot that doesn't find the fairway. A nice test of golf, yet very fair.
