I played a high school golf match here, so I didn't get the full experience, but from what I can tell, I'm not hoping to be back here often. All the work is put into practice facilities, and none in the actual course. After the first hole, I felt like I was playing a muni.
Being Jewish I'm a little leery of country clubs; my people haven't always been so welcome at them and I find the ostentation a little much. Having said that it's a lovely place for a wedding.
Beautiful grounds with an even more beautiful ballroom. Between the ceremony an dinner we were encouraged to head outside and enjoy appetizers with the lake and the forest behind presenting a relaxing backdrop.
The food was great, The appetizers were asian inspired with curry shrimp, barbecued pork and Crab Rangoon that everyone raved about. I had the Prime Rib which was, amazingly for a bangquet, perfectly cooked. My only quibble was that staff tending the bar didn't seem to be very experienced and got very swamped with drink orders,
I'm not a member here and I don't like to play golf. So why am I reviewing this place? It's a very lovely place for a wedding.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
I was just there this past weekend to attend a beautiful wedding ceremony and reception. Maybe because it was a nice sunny day and I had plenty of time to look at several wedding albums taken around the golf course; but I thought the place was very romantic.
Made me almost believe in happliy ever after.
We have been members for over 7 years. The course is beautiful. The clubhouse - historic. Not a stuffy or snobby crowd, they are here to golf. The members range from young to old, but primarily retired or near retired businessmen. Still, my kids golf and are welcome by all. We often see families in the dining room with well behaved children. The staff always greets us by name and the turnover rate of employees is low so we know them all well. Hosting an event in the ballroom is an easy, seamless process with their catering staff. Fun monthly events such as wine tasting, bingo, kids holiday events and couples 'glo-ball' golf are just a few of the social aspects. Well worth the investment!
