Upon arrival I was met at my car w a cart, and given a ride to the pro shop (I was early) My lesson with Jody was thorough; I left with drills that made sense, and we're helpful. Met my husband for lunch. My BLT was perfect, and my husband commented on how delicious his pork sandwich was. The staff are professional, cheerful, welcoming. Played 9 on the beautiful, and challenging course. Holly Hills is an excellent choice to call your home course.
Only played the golf course here but what a nice gem. Very hilly; I commend all the golfers I saw walking there. Greens were slow but was told they're trying to save them from stressing out. I appreciated it because the slope on some greens was pretty severe. There were a couple of blind tee shots and a couple of blind shots into the green, but overall there was a great mixture of holes. #6 and 7 are very tough back-to-back holes from the tips. 6 is a long, dogleg left, uphill par 4. Dan Jenkins wrote about it being the toughest hole in the Western Hemisphere in 1990; that statement still holds up. The next is a long par 3 over water (pro tip: the drop area is on the other side of the green, but missing right is your first option).
Clubhouse seemed nice, but the pro-shop was small. The practice area was just okay regarding some other country clubs in the area. Longer shots aren't measurable off the driving range. Big putting green which was nice.
Lastly everyone I encountered was laid back and very nice.
We got married at Holly Hills back in October. The country club was beautiful and beyond perfect for our ceremony and reception. I thought it was a huge bonus that the country club does the catering. An even bigger bonus was that the food was so delicious. Margret, the on-site wedding coordinator, was great. She was extremely responsive and helpful both before and during the wedding. She helped coordinate with vendors and helped time the entire day. The staff at HH did a lovely job setting up and breaking down everything at the end of the night. Our wedding went off without a hitch and I cannot thank Margret and the rest of the Holly Hills staff enough!
