My only complaints would be that on a busy Saturday there was no cart girl until we were on the 9th hole and we were not told beforehand. Paying 100.00 a round there should be more communication in that regard.
In addition I was aware of their promotions/9 and dine etc and although we booked a week in advance, we were not told about it. I found out while reading online later. We could have easily done that and paid LESS and gotten money towards food (breakfast or lunch).
Otherwise, amazing golf course. Great shape. But a person has to be a straight shooter here. Surprisingly I played well, and am looking forward to going back.
Target golf, lots of hazards, narrow fairways - a beautifully designed and landscaped course with rising viewscapes to the city, bordering forests and Thetis Lake Regional park.
If you like the Mountain course at Bear Mountain, this course is the closest comparison in the Victoria area. Fast greens, well drained fairways, and fluffy silica sand traps. The added challenge is the rough rough, lots of fescue, water features and many lies will be on a slope. Deer and a variety of wild birds are a joy to watch for. I've always walked this course, but its long and lots of up and down.
Nicely stocked pro shop, great pro and friendly staff, and two level driving range, the lower stalls with heaters for year round practice. The hydro tower in the middle of the range is an eye sore, and makes a loud hit zone, that the course doesn't want you to aim for to avoid neighbourhood household complaint. Understandable. The only range that has a laundromat, so you can double-duty practice and do laundry. Weird or what?
The Clubhouse restaurant, the Range Cafe, has average fare. The patio is nice on warm days, overlooking the range. You have to order cafeteria style at the counter, and they deliver to your table. The best is the fire-roasted tomato basil soup. It's consistently good, chunky and flavourful, but I don't think it's homemade. Most recently I ordered the taco salad for a change ($10.95). Served in a crisp tortilla bowl, with greens, salsa and guac on the side. The taco beef was nicely seasoned, though was dry, not freshly cooked. Liquor license. Bonus points: two-for-one meals at the Cafe with coupons in the local Compassionate Warehouse coupon book.
Golf here year round. Every hole has a different look, feel, feature and strategy, moreso than the average course. Love it!
A Must Play- I had no idea but wow was I impressed. Only 9 holes until the back 9 was added in June of this year but what a magnificent course. Challenging enough to keep you going back and enjoyable so that you are not discouraged. I am a bad golfer, but I love playing.
The scenery and holes are beautifully maintained and absolutely breathtaking.
The driving range uses balls that are 8% lighter and therefore float as there is a water hazard on the driving range to practice with. They don't fly as far so don't feel you have lost something if you are hitting half your normal distance.
Great experience I will be back
