High Mountain Golf Club

Its such a shame that this is going to be the last season at High Mountain as they will be building homes on it.  I played this course for the first time last week and had a great time.  The course is not too challenging but the conditions are great and pricing is reasonable.  As a Bergen county resident there aren't that many options for a decent course at a decent price.  All the public Bergen county courses are unplayable because of the conditions and the wait times, so I've given up on those.  If you want to get a great round of golf in you have to travel our further to the Morris county courses.  For all of you looking for a decent course in Bergen, travel to High Mountain especially since this will be the last season, what a shame.

I've played here a few times and while it is convenient (if you live close by) there are certainly better places to golf in Bergen county.

High mountain is semi private, opens to public after noon. I believe its $85 to play 18 holes driving, the nice thing about high mountain is you don't feel too congested like some of the public places can.

However 3 stars due to course design and lack of difficulty, also I feel that the conditions have degraded over time.

I was surprised to find this golf course right under my nose.  Located in Franklin Lakes right by the Market Basket, High Mountain is a semi-private par 71 golf course that I really enjoyed playing (for the 3rd time).  It has a few quirky rules like you can only call on Monday for a tee time later in the week.  They also reserve certain days for outings and certain weekend hours for members (understandable).  Once you work through when you can play you'll find a very easy going staff, a nice little pro shop and a restaurant/bar with very good food.  They have a practice range as well.  Word of advice:  The front nine is short and has three par 3's (34) & the back has three par 5's (37) and a couple of long par 4's.  My point is that you should not let your score at the turn lull into a false sense of security.

This club is open to the public. Servers are friendly and helpful. The management goes overboard to help you. Food is very good. We have only been there for lunch whish is great hamburgers, sandwiches, soups and omelets.
Please remember it is open to the public.
