If there were a - 5 stars this place would get it. I have never seen such poor green management in 50 years of golfing... The manager moves about as fast as the turtles found on the fairway... When u meet the starter you'll see why his title is an absolute hypocrisy... Hopefully your never have a schedule when golfing here because they will certainly ruin it.. No time management whatsoever... Golfing here is like golfing in the backyard of your poor cousin Johnny... He never cuts his grass and harasses the neighbors while drinking beer from the dilapidated deck he built himself... Place is a mess and has random joggers running through the fairways at every other hole... Cart died halfway through the round and walked the last half.. Didn't receive any compensation for the inconvenience.. But did get a bunch of useless blather out of the equally useless manager... Anywhere else is a better choice..playing in the backyard is a better way to spend the time.
This is a convenient course in the middle of the city. The med center to be specific. It's not an amazing course. It could use some more love. But it's a solid one for the price. I'm a fan of the driving range. As you can see by my picture, the squirrels eat well here. More importantly, they have upgraded to the future of cheap driving ranges. If you want to golf their you pre-load a button, yes a button, with cash and you just lay when you want. They had a good deal where you buy $100 and they give you an extra $50 in the card. Anyone throwing money like that out, is a good deal. Definitely gives me something to when I have free time :) Again, not the most amazing place, but a solid/convenient choice to train/practice, or kill time on.
Breakfast tacos... Possibly some of the best in Houston.
The course is ok too. Greens are looking above average for the Houston municipal courses.
We were visiting Houston & golfed Hermann Park. Ben Castenada, the pro, is an amazing teacher. He taught great systems for mastering skills. Kids golf camp is an unbelievable value. The course is a very pleasant & super close to the medical center & zoo. It was neat to hear the zoo train & wolves on the course. Hard to believe we were in the middle of the cIty. We had a very inexpensive & great breakfast taco one day & a huge tasty burger for lunch on another. I liked it!
Best thing about the course is that it's close to the city. Worst thing is that since it's close to the city, the fairways are narrow and holes are scrunched in. Some how I end up losing a ton of balls here cause if you're not on point, it's hard to find. It's a short course though so you can easily fit it in during twilight. Grounds are kept ok i guess. Because of the trees, I feel like there is a lot of dirt. Greens are fast but not too difficult. So decent place for being near the center of the city but definitely better places to play in Houston.
