Cheap and close to home so I play here a lot. There are no sand traps though but the crowned greens can be challenging. Ditch the SW or LW and chip with your 8 or 9 iron though. The staff (especially Marvin) is always super-friendly and accommodating.
Green Meadows is a great starter course/cheap/just have a good time course. There are no sound traps, the fairways can sometimes feel like you are playing from your lawn, but somehow the greens are not in bad shape at all. Actually they are decent. Everything is wide open. It feels like a semi "farm" course.
The owner though is great. He has been taking steps to improve this course. They have brand new gas carts, and the course every year gets in better shape. Its not on the level of the nicer courses in Charlotte, but I don't mind it.
Why do I play this course?
You can bring your own cooler ( hello shotgunning beers!), they don't care about dress attire, and its cheap I mean hella cheap ($17). Thats the reason this place gets 4 stars. Not because of the course, but because of the atmosphere. You can pretty much do whatever you want. Its a great place to bring beginners and great place just to have fun. As long as you are not expecting Verdict Ridge. The only thing that needs to change about this place is the bathroom. It needs a makeover stat
Started playing there 25 yrs ago. Everyone called it a cow pasture, but I took up and said it`s a good place to learn with friendly people and the cost was always low. Went 3-4 times a wk and loved it.
Moved to the other side of Charlotte and haden`t been there for a few yrs. My son-in-law started playing and wanted to show him the wonderful place were I had learned to play. We have played there now 3 times and EVERY TIME, there is a group there on the weekends. They hold everyone up and will not move aside, but if you cut around them at the 9th hole, a guy will come riding down and yell at you and ask you to let them play through. Even though by the time they are finished, you could have been 2 holes ahead. I really believe the owner ( who I think used to just work there when I started)needs to give some lessons in golf educate to some of the now regulars. It took us almost 3 hrs to play 9 holes patiently waiting on them to finish each hole. The greens and some fairways are always dry, but I took into account the price and friendly service. That is no longer an option and I will pay the extra $15.00 to play at a better course from now on. Might be ok to go there on a week day, will never know, because I`ve been there for my last time and it`s a shame that everyone acts like it`s a country club when it used to be so great.
i will never play this course again the you would be better off playing in a cow pasture fairways are garbage oak hills in charlotte is better value and its cheaper i wouldnt recommend green meadows to anyone people that work there are on parole i think
