This course is a diamond in the rough! Always in excellent shape, people are great, better than a country club. Price is great. Practice area is great and the course is challenging. Excellent views also. Easy to get on
For the amount of money spent on a course, I expect more.
1. Nicely kept up.
2. Fairly easy course to play.
3. Pro shop staff is friendly.
1. No maps and layout of each hole. They provide a score card with the greens only.
2. No GPS (or map), I've played less expensive courses that have GPS screens.
3. Marshall hovers and pressures all players.
Best bang for your buck... No.
I'll take Oak Quarry over this course.
Always a great experience here. Fairways in beautiful condition , greens good just wish some players would repair divots, common at most public courses sadly. The staff here is always friendly, really like their spacing of groups off the tee. I agree with other reviews, the driving range here is better than most fairways of all other local courses. Chipping area and putting green is always well kept too.
It's far from orange county, but it's one of those courses that are worth the drive. Golf Southern CA has a promotion for an extra $5-$10 off green fees.
The course was in fantastic shape. Seems it's always like that from seeing all the other reviews. It's tough. It was pretty hard from the whites already. From the blues, i'm sure it's a very challenging course. The course played at a decent pace on Saturday. You normally expect 5+ hour rounds on a saturday but we finished in a respectable 4.5 waiting on the par 3's, but the other holes moved pretty fast. The greens are difficult. I 3 putted more than I wanted to. #18 hole is HARD!!! play it safe. get on 3 and walk away with your bogey. If you try and smash your drive hard for a decent length approach shot, you'll fade and find water. if you play it safe, you will have a 200 yard approach which will find you in the water again. haha. play it safe, don't be like me.
This is how tight the top five course are in the IE, this course can easily be #1 and definitely has been mine, in the past.
The Goose does so many things right, if I owned a golf course I would manage it the way they do. Many courses stack players on top of each other and if your round takes 6 hours," than so be it', not here, they stick to at least 8 minute intervals, and even wait for the players to reach the first green, before sending the next group. The guys are laid back and give "one of the boys" kind of service and humor, but ensure you have a good time. Price is very reasonable. The Goose is #1 in service.
The practice facility is #1, beautiful lush green grass to hit your balls on the range, where other courses allow theirs to brown or even to hit off dirt, most courses would do very well to have fairways as nice as Goose's range.
I forgot to add that the Goose is #1 in the IE, in course conditions, resort like conditions!
First and foremost, I am a layout king, the only reason why Goose is not #1 for me, but layout is still in the top 10.
