Glenview Park Golf Club

This was my first visit to GP. After looking at the card, my buddy and I (both low handicaps) thought for sure we would go low. The course still proved to be a good test. The course is very fair and protected by a thick but fair rough and bunkering. The course was in fantastic condition. Greens were virtually perfect. We chose to walk and it was a great walk. Loved the course and will go back for sure.

He would play this course again.

The new greens are great. Very fast and fun to play. Also, added many sand traps. Traps have good sand. I should know I was in about 8 of them... Also, the course keeps the rough about 2 inches. Very challenging when you miss the fairways. Overall a good test of golf. Would recommend.

He would play this course again.

I played this course years ago and I always enjoyed it. This was the first time since the renovation and I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. The fairways and greens were gorgeous and firm, the bunkers and traps were well cared for and challenging along with the rough. Did I say the greens were darn near perfect and quick. The weather was perfect, 70 degrees and pure sunshine. Hats of to the Glenview Park District.

He would play this course again.

If we had only caught it on video.

I used to play here in a golf league with people from work. After a few round of golf you learn how manage this course or you will not score well.

The course:
The course is short but narrow and full of trees and traps with some water. It is surrounded by homes that are out of bounds.

The experience:
Like I previously mentioned you need to manage this course. If your drives are not straight or you can't control them, then you need to rethink your club choice. The greens are faster than normal which was good. Of course they do have beverage carts which will save you if you need a beer or cocktail while out on the course.

The club house:
The club house is nice with a pro shop, a dining area and a locker room. The pro shop has clothing, shoes and golf clubs that you can purchase. The locker room has lockers for changing before your round of golf. The dining area is separated by a partition where you can have a party on one side while the main room can accommodate the golfers after a round. The food is pretty good as I have had there burgers and hot dogs.

If we had only caught it on video:
At the end of our league we would have a little tournament where one of the guys would ride around in a golf cart with a video camera. After a few holes and a lot of beer I had hit my second shot on a par 5 into someone's back yard. Not thinking straight, I decided to break the rule that you don't go into someone's yard for your golf ball. Unfortunately the yard had a chain link fence and while leaping over the fence my cleat on my shoe caught the top of the fence and I did a face plant in the ground. I saw stars for a few seconds and then asked if they caught it on video. THEY DIDN'T. I am positive that it would have won on America's Funniest Videos.

So make sure that when you come here that you manage the course and play responsibly.

I had a very nice afternoon at Glenview Park Golf Club last week.  $24 for twilight golf was a great value.  I haven't played here on weekends, but I have to say this was a nice step up from the Forest Preserve Courses I've marched through over the years.  It's true, this is a shorter course, but with all of the older trees and TONS of sand around the greens and fairway landing areas, this is not an easy course.  I made everything from birdie to quadruple bogey in one round here and even got to hear the clubhouse roar as the first goal of the Hawks Stanley Cup clincher started just before dusk.  I'm definitely bringing my city friends out to play here.  Very comparable to Wilmette Golf Club in my opinion.
