Good solid George Cobb layout from the 1950's that's been well maintained and updated over the years. Parkland style routing through tree lined fairways, easily walkable without homes or development lining the golf course. Fair rates for the DC area, they do pack em in here though, and the pace of play suffers at times. Here's a link to a course description and their website/contact info:
Great course and very good condition. The course appears short and wide open on the scorecard, but where challenge lies is on the approach shots and the speedy greens. I've played here several times and the service from the pro shop has always been very good. Everyone is friendly and easy going. I especially love playing here in the off-season with their reduced rates. My only minor quibbles are (1)the driving range could use new matts and updated payment system and (2) cart girls would be nice, especially in these hot summer months.
Great course. The course conditions are superb!! Great greens and don't let the shortness fool you. Sheila one of the marshall is the BEST!
The management goes out their way to keep you coming back.
I've played this course several times in recent years. It has become a reasonable backup golf course, and is slightly better than Cross Creek, Fairway Hills, and Patuxent Greens, but it's not as good as Timbers or Rocky Point or Diamond Ridge. It's not the toughest golf challenge, but there are a handful of difficult holes, like #9 for instance. The conditions of the greens, fairways, roughs, and tee boxes are mediocre, as is the clubhouse. Pro shop service is reasonable, driving range and putting green are marginal. I've been matched up several times at this course with jerks who almost single-handedly ruined the round of golf. That can happen anywhere, but it has happened several times here. Overall, I would rate it 2 to 2.5 stars.
