Excellent semi-private course with a challenging layout. One of the best deals in the area for public play.
Foxborough Country Club is one of the real jewels of the New England golf scene. It is a semi-private 18 hole course which is not only challenging but picturesque and beautifully maintained. The clubhouse is not overly ostentacious but is charming and friendly with a full bar and a varied menu of well prepared, tasty and reasonably priced food. The membership pricing is a real bargain in todays world and the non members can golf Tuesday-Thursday at any time and Saturday and Sunday after 1 PM. Monday is usually reserved for outings and Friday is a heavy members day so no public golfing. The price for 18 holes is $60 but the experience is priceless, including some of those unforgiving greens like holes 4 and 5. There are twilight specials and a player card which can save you some money. Try it some day and maybe you'll end up joining as a member like I did!
This is a tough track with HUGE greens. I feel I would play much better if I played it a second time because it's not long and it's all about location on the drive.
Please see my blog for more details and reviews.
It was $60 a man to walk at 3:30 pm on a Wednesday, way on the high side.
We stopped in the bar afterward for a beer, and since it was men's night the place was hopping. We had a sandwich (I had the cod that was excellent) and enjoyed the conversation with the guys.
I would go back and play for sure.
This course is extremely trciky. If you play this course for the firt time, you would not say that the holes look hard, but they deceive you. The greens do not slope much, but there is a lot of break. To score well here, you have to trust your brain, not your eyes.
