After looking for wedding venues I had finally decided to sign a contract with FCC to host my ceremony and reception. I worked with a wonderful and gracious event planner by the name of Peggy. She was very professional, friendly, welcoming, and had great customer service. To my surprise, FCC decided to fire her and other managers, replacing Peggy with someone who has no experience in wedding and event planning. My experience with Emily Featherling has been horrible to say the least.
Let me start by saying, Peggy promised us %15 off food and beverage and a ceremony cost of only $500 for a Sunday wedding. When I went to FCC to close the deal and sign a contract, the new management would not adhere to the contract and spreadsheet that Peggy had created for us. Instead they only agreed to the %15 off food, but they increased the ceremony to $1,250. When asked how did they get the number $1,250, Emily was very defensive and said they found it in FCC papers that are not open to the public eye. Huh!! If you are charging $1,250 for a ceremony, and have increased the price drastically, wouldn't it be ok for the customer to see it written on paper first???
Another issue with Emily Featherling is her customer service and communication and follow up. She does not return phone calls or emails! And she was very rude to myself and my mother saying " if you do not like this new contract that I have created then you need to part ways with FCC!" I have never experienced a person so full of hate when it comes to my wedding. Let me give you another example of how unprofessional she is. So after me calling and texting her to try and schedule a meeting to discuss the contract, I texted her and asked to come on 5/27/14 which was a Tuesday, the day after Memorial Day. She said ok come on in. I took off a half day at work to schedule time to meet with her. I arrive at FCC at 2:30pm, and to my surprise the club is CLOSED! So I call Emily and said, " hey I'm at FCC, can you come get me, I'm at the front door". She then says ," oh the club is closed , I'm not there!" . Not only did she forget she scheduled a meeting that day, but she also forgot that the club was closed that day as well!!! Also she never apologized to me for her mistake and seemed very unapologetic when I brought the situation up in a meeting we hade with her manager Dane. Overall, FCC is a beautiful venue, it's a little out dated in some areas, but I WOULD NOT choose FCC to have a wedding because of the unprofessional character flaw that Emily Featherling upholds. Not to mention she does not have an eye for detail. I was just there for our final meeting on 6/5 and Emily ordered table linens for high boy tables that were way to short and you could see the 4legs sticking out. It looked tacky and cheap. They need to bring Peggy back!!
I was there recently for a wedding. The accommodations were fine. The only complaint I have is the vegetarian dinner option when weddings are held there. The bride informed them that there were 2 vegetarian plates and they didn't serve them. Once we asked for it we were given the same exact meal as meat eaters, minus the meat. It was a plate full of mashed sweet potatoes and green beans. They were good, but it would have been nice to have a pasta with it or eggplant parmesean, etc...
I was here for a 75yr old birthday celebration in August. I marveled at the scenery from where we dined. It had an excellent balcony and the view is phenomenal.
The event room comfortably fitted an estimated 100-140 guest with a dance floor. I guess it's one suggestion if you were to have a small wedding reception.
Great old club next to Olympia Fields. #12 is a great hole.
