Dinsmore provides a very good, rather testing walk, with a lot of up-and-down. The course itself is quite scenic, providing a user-friendly layout -- there are no water hazards, the bunkers are reasonable, and generally the holes are quite wide open -- that is still occasionally challenging.
Dinsmore is a nice state owned 18 hole course in Dutchess County. The course sits right near the Hudson River and there are very nice views from some of the hillside holes.
The course plays very differently on the front 9 than on the back, it almost seems as if half the course was laid out, and then the other half squeezed in to expand a nice 9, into an OK 18.
Being state run the price is reasonable although the play can get very slow depending on who's in front of you. The ranger's never seem to enforce any rules which can get frustrating.
Dinsmore has a split personality: first nine is short and easy; second nine has many arduous holes. Both have beautiful views.
