This place is swanky! We were on a buddies golf trip, and one of our buddies did business with one of the members, so we got a foursome member guest round on a Friday, which I guess wasn't that hard to come by.
The clubhouse is ridiculous, and nothing is out of place. Flat screens everywhere in the bar, and a nice beer selection to go with very nice cushy seats, fitting for a country club.
We had a fore caddy for our group, and he apparently also caddied for a LPGA pro occasionally. He was a very good golfer himself, or so he said, and he helped all of us with our games while on the course.
Apparently T. Boone Pickens lives right off one of he holes, and his helicopter was taking off when we were on that fairway (forget which hole).
The course itself is amazing, and there's absolutely nothing out of place. The only reason this wasn't a five star review is that some of the help there was pretty snotty.
Got to come here to participate in the Wounded Marine Fund golf tournament. Very nice and challenging course, country club caliber service and beautiful facilities. The DMCC has been a huge supporter of military causes for years. A stroll through the pro shop hallway is testament to that. Awards and recognitions from all service branches are on display from past events. Very inspiring. and if their patriotism isn't enough, there's a full bar in the Men's locker room!
IF YOU GET TO GO- don't be putting on your golf shoes in the parking lot. There's a locker room with a bar for that!
Del Mar Country Club has an interesting history of ownership but as a course, I really like it. What I love the most is that it blends nicely with the natural habitat of Rancho Santa Fe without compromising the unique layout of the course. The Club House is understated elegant, and the owner of the club and the club itself host a lot of wonderful not for profit fund raisers. It is private, gated, extremely exclusive. But if you are looking for a club where you can show up, pick up a game and meet new people, this might not be the best choice.
Very elegant, professional, above average customer service, as well as friendly.
A couple greens could have used some slight TLC. I believe the weekend before I went San Diego area just received its worst weather of the season. On #8 hole had tree branches, trees that were cut down and waiting to be chopped up. I went on a Thursday.
This course has amazing houses on it that are well worth over millions of dollars. I would recommend this course anyone.
I had breakfast at the restaurant and the food was very tasty with big portions. I had a breakfast sandwich (eggs white, ham, cheese, and avocado), and hash browns. The hash browns are different from norm. The entire hash browns were all crispy instead of the common of just the top. When you come here look to spend a good penny on the food, round, or snack cart.
The best course I've ever played. I've played at 12 different San Diego County golf courses.
As a low handicapper, I must say this is the nicest course I have ever played. That includes many top 100 courses across the country. Perfectly maintained. Excellent layout & greens. Beats Sawgrass, Pebble Beach, TPC Scottsdale, etc.
For those new to playing on a private course: dress nicely, mind your manners, tip well & dont look for problems. The staff is awesome here. The carts are "top notch". If there is a better facility, I haven't found it yet. But, I'm still looking.
If you ever get the chance to play here, jump on it. There aren't many courses in this condition!
