I tried to give them my business and I played every Tuesday. The course is always being worked on but never gets better. I have come to the conclusion that they don't really care about the locals that play every week. I have tried to give them helpful imput being a local business owner but I always get an excuse. Was the only group on the golf course on Tuesday and was followed by the lawn mower on each hole. I was very rarely informed about work being done on the golf course and was surprised by either holes in the greens or sand on them, rocks in the bunkers, bad tee boxes, workers who don't understand who pays the bills. Will go to boca muni.
I love to play golf and have played on three continents and realize that all courses are not equal. But I and a friend decided to check this course out so we called and spoke with a charming young lady who told us the price and details. So we went over to check it out. Now before going any further it should be noted I shoot a good round and spent years working at golf clubs. I also waited a few days before writing this review. As we signed in we found the price quoted by the young lady was wrong and the gentleman behind the counter was absolute in his price. So o.k. we look around and there is no one around this course and it is 1:15, but they do give a break to members at 2 and the public at 3. so for a couple of hours this place has maybe ten players. So why not reduce the price at say 12 and maybe get a few more people. better to sell 20 tickets at $20 than 4 at $30. And this was far from the worse part of this golfing experience.
I do not know who the superintendent is for this course but I hope he is not being paid for his knowledge. Of the 18 tee boxes, 9 were in need of major repairs and 2 others were in distress. So why not move the tees up for a few days or even a few weeks and get the boxes to at least be level and have some grass. This bad now, God help you in winter. The fairways were not bad but I like the old Florida courses where the edges get a little sandy and brown. But the thing that stood out to both myself and my playing partner were the greens. On four greens they had re-sanded areas to help revive them and guess what they put the holes right in the areas with the sand. And on one green that was in need of real help due to all the rain they put the hole in the most distress area rather than on the back part of the green. So now was it not only distress it was getting the heavies foot traffic.
Finally, I have no idea why in south Florida some golf courses think one or two water stops are enough. Folks it is just plain stupid not to have at least a water station of some kind every four holes. Remember at 92 degrees and 70 percent humidity the air feels like 109 degrees. It would make it so much nicer for the players and avoid any legal issues when the 75 year old man passes out on the course one day.
The layout is very good and with a few dollars spent on the course and hiring people who know what they are doing it could become a real gem. But for now it is
a D course asking for B+ money. For less money and a better course try Boca Municipal or even Southwinds.
I came here for a wedding over the weekend. Most of the staff was pretty friendly. During the dinner, they were so quick to set up and to take things down before several people on my table even had a chance to finish their food. After telling the girl looking after my table that we were not done yet, when I came back from the bathroom all of our food was gone.
Definitely not the best of service. I understand they wanted to go home but I think these employees were trying to walk out the door same time as us. Very very bad service.... I def do NOT recommend this place.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Last summer they replaced the greens making it a challenging and fun course to play. Some greens are very tricky. The cost is less than other courses and the conditions are good, in fact I played a round today and the course was in pretty good condition. If you want a fun time and a challenge this is the place to play.
Don't you just love golfing in the dirt? Not a well kept area. The grass is thirsting for water. Not what you would expect walking into a "country club". This place has potential if they would put a little more effort into it.
