Had the chance to play the course as the guest of a member.
A few notes about the course:
1. The back is much longer than the front.
2. The greens and fairways are immaculate.
3. You MUST plan you short game shots around the slope of the green. If you land your chips on the wrong slope, have fun chipping back onto the green.
4. The 18th hole leading back up to the clubhouse is a spectacular hole. Bunkers in the right fairway, but if you go left, you are blocked out of the green by a majestic tree. The beautiful clubhouse looms in the background.
The service was amazing, and the course was bucket-list material. Just fantastic stuff.
Played here at the start of November as the course was starting to slow down. The greens were remarkably firm and were pretty quick. I'd heard that Belle Haven had made lots of improvements to the course, but I did not see anything that was radically different from 20 years ago when I played matches here. The course was perfectly manicured and I did see a few cosmetic enhancements. Tees, fairways, rough, and traps were perfect.
As for the layout the course is nice. There a few kind of odd holes. I think it's #3 or #4 that is a short dogleg right that turns back so much that the green is almost drivable if you are willing to gamble with the trees. Then I think it's #8 that is a short dogleg left where the fairway slides hard right. You have to hit enough club to get past the corner to not be blocked out, but it's tough to hold the fairway even with a well-placed iron shot. The only other holes that warrant special comment are the elevated 10th and 18th greens. Miss either green and you will be challenged to get up and down.
Stuck around for beers, apps, and to watch some football. Great atmosphere, service, and food. The new clubhouse is beautiful. I hope they can keep positive cash flow to keep up both the clubhouse and course. Would like to get back in the spring/summer.
Great facilities! Friendly, professional staff. Terrific golf and tennis. The general manager and exec chef are wonderful professionals. Not inexpensive but well worth it.
I played a round of golf here as a guest of a member. The club house is beautiful. This is a hard course for me. Narrow fairways, bunkers everywhere. But, the greens are well kept and prefers a faster putt.
The staff is very warm and helpful. As soon as you park, there's a guy on a golf cart coming to you and gives you a ride to the club.
The driving range is on the green under a shade which I personally prefer. I love the practice putting greens. You can practice putting in different lies, putting distances and different chipping or short game situations.
Wonderful place. Great people. Challenging golf course. Excellent Tennis facility with outdoor clay & indoor courts. Lots of varied options for dining. Workout Facility & Outdoor pool are top notch. The staff at Belle Haven work very hard to make sure all of the Belle Haven family have a country club to be extremely proud to be a member. If you know a member - get yourself an invite to see what Belle Haven is all about.
